These terms apply when you use OneTap to organise or pay a share of a Merchant purchase. Read the Merchant's product, delivery, reservation and cancellation terms too. Each payer must see and accept the applicable OneTap terms and the amount of their own share before authorising it. CONFIRM: versioned acceptance and the checkout presentation are implemented before publication.
1. Who does what
The Merchant named at checkout sells the goods, services, tickets or booking and receives the purchase funds through its payment service provider (PSP). Its name appears on the receipt and card statement. CONFIRM: actual receipt and statement descriptor. OneTap coordinates group checkout and payments but does not take custody of the purchase price. The Merchant sets availability, price, tax, fulfilment and its disclosed reservation and cancellation policy. OneTap is responsible for its own service, including accurate display and payment coordination. The PSP processes payments under its terms.
An Organiser starts a group checkout and proposes the participants and allocation. A Participant is a person invited to pay a Share. The Organiser is also a Participant if allocated a Share. A Group Order is the single Merchant order shown at checkout, even if Shares are described by ticket or item. Allocation of a ticket's price to one Participant does not by itself create a separate booking or independent right to that ticket. CONFIRM: whether any Merchant integrations instead sell separately fulfilled tickets; they need different terms and checkout wording.
2. Your share and fees
Before you authorise, checkout must display the Merchant, items or booking, total order price, your Share and currency, any OneTap or Merchant fee payable by you, and the Group Deadline. Your consent is limited to the displayed one-off amount for your Share and any separately displayed fee. We may not increase it, charge you for another person's unpaid Share, or use it for a subscription or later unrelated purchase without a new authorisation. CONFIRM: exact fee calculation, who charges it, whether it is included in or separate from the authorised amount, tax and refund treatment; assess any card surcharge rules.
The Organiser may propose an allocation but cannot bind you to pay it. Check your own amount and the Merchant's policy before accepting. If the order or your amount changes after you authorise, a new checkout and authorisation are required for the changed amount. The Organiser is not automatically responsible for a missing Share.
3. Authorisation, capture and completion
When you submit payment, the PSP may authorise your displayed amount. This temporary hold or approval is not yet a charge, but may reduce your available balance. OneTap coordinates capture, when the PSP turns your authorisation into a charge for the accepted amount and order under the disclosed conditions. Shares are captured separately; one success does not mean the others succeeded.
A Group Order remains pending until all required Shares have been captured and the Merchant has confirmed the order or booking. Only then is it a Completed Purchase; PSP payout may follow later. Confirmation of your Share alone does not confirm the Group Order. We will display or send its status. An invitation, authorisation or pending screen is not a confirmed ticket or booking. CONFIRM: status messages and Merchant acceptance are implemented.
4. Deadline, extensions and incomplete groups
The Merchant sets the Group Deadline and discloses its stock or booking reservation policy before you authorise. If the required Shares are not authorised by that deadline, the default outcome is cancellation of the incomplete Group Order, cancellation of uncaptured authorisations and release of any reservation in accordance with the Merchant's policy. The PSP and your card issuer control when a released hold disappears from your account; this is different from a refund of a captured charge.
The Merchant may extend the Group Deadline only while the relevant authorisations and inventory reservations remain valid. An extension cannot lengthen an individual PSP authorisation. We may use your existing authorisation beyond the deadline you accepted only if the extension was clearly permitted when you authorised or you separately agree to it. CONFIRM: maximum extension, payer notice and consent design. If an authorisation or reservation has expired, the affected payer must authorise again or the group must use a new checkout. An extension never increases your authorised amount.
If a capture fails or the Merchant cannot confirm the booking, the Group Order stays pending while we and the Merchant investigate and tell affected payers the outcome. An already captured Share may need a refund or other remedy; the PSP and issuer affect refund timing. CONFIRM: partial-failure refund authority/funding, recovery deadline, inventory and fee treatment. We will not silently move a shortfall to another payer.
5. Changes, cancellation and refunds
Before authorisation, you may leave checkout. After authorisation, requests to withdraw your Share or cancel a Group Order are handled under the Merchant's disclosed policy, the payment state and applicable law. An Organiser's request does not automatically cancel or release every Participant's Share. CONFIRM: which person may cancel a pending group or individual Share, how affected payers are notified, and whether the Merchant can cancel a confirmed booking. Contact the Merchant for product, booking, delivery or change-of-mind requests; contact OneTap if a Share, hold, duplicate charge or group status appears wrong. We and the Merchant will coordinate where an issue crosses both services.
If a charge has been captured, releasing a hold is no longer enough: a refund must be initiated through the PSP. The Merchant is responsible for deciding and funding refunds relating to what it sells, subject to law. OneTap is responsible for correcting errors in its own service and carrying out payment actions it has agreed to handle. CONFIRM: refund initiation authority, fee refunds and status tracking before publication. No Merchant policy or these terms removes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
6. Invites, information and safe use
If you organise a group, provide accurate details and invite only people you reasonably expect to receive the invitation. An invitation is not marketing consent. If you pay a Share, use a payment method you are authorised to use. Do not interfere with checkout or impersonate someone.
The Merchant receives the order and the contact or fulfilment details needed to complete it. Billing details are shared with the Merchant only where needed for the payment or a defined fulfilment, tax or fraud purpose; some details may also be available to the Merchant through its PSP. Our Privacy Policy explains these flows. Optional Merchant promotions require a separate lawful basis and must not be treated as a condition of paying. OneTap does not use launch checkout contacts for OneTap consumer marketing. CONFIRM: necessary fields, actual PSP visibility and Merchant marketing choice before publication.
Keep invitation and payment links private. Tell us promptly if you suspect a mistaken or unauthorised transaction. We may pause a checkout while reasonably checking suspected misuse or a payment error, and will explain the status and next step where practicable. A review or pause is not a confirmed purchase.
7. Problems, liability and changes
Tell the Merchant about what it sold and OneTap about checkout or payment problems. We will reasonably investigate and cooperate with the Merchant and PSP. You may also contact your card issuer; a dispute does not remove your statutory rights or guarantee a particular outcome.
OneTap remains responsible for its service, and the Merchant remains responsible for what it sells. We do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer guarantees, or impose a blanket indemnity on you. To the extent the law permits, OneTap is not responsible for loss caused solely by the Merchant's conduct or your misuse; this does not limit responsibility for our own conduct. CONFIRM: legal review against the final service and fee model.
We may update these terms prospectively with reasonable notice of a material change. The version accepted when you authorise a Share governs that Group Order unless a change is required by law or you agree to it. If we stop offering a pending checkout, we will address its authorisations and any captured amounts under sections 4 and 5. New South Wales law governs these terms, subject to mandatory laws that apply to you.
